How to Make a Referral

To access any of the services offered by Chatham-Kent Children's Services 24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, please call (519) 352-0440.

A single point of access allows for a more efficient and streamlined approach to service provision, offering you the service of telling people your story once.

During weekday office hours a live voice at reception answers and refers the call immediately to one of two qualified social work staff who can:

  • Provide information regarding community resources,
  • Refer internally for professional and support services in the home, school or community,
  • Refer to supplementary or alternate community services,
  • Provide immediate crisis response from one of two qualified Short Term Assessment and Treatment (S.T.A.T.) team members,
  • Provide eligibility assessment for services under the Child and Family Services Act, and
  • Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect.

If the call comes in after hours on weekdays or anytime on weekends the call is transferred to an answering service and a qualified social worker returns the call immediately providing the above-mentioned services as required.
