Chatham-Kent Children's Services requires a Family Service Worker.

The worker will investigate whether children are in need of protection and will take appropriate actions where indicated to protect children; provide services to families where protection concerns indicate need for such and includes education and development of parenting skills and household management; maintain liaisons with other agencies including schools, agencies providing services to children and services to adults and families; document information as required in the Child and Family Services Act.

Qualifications: BSW from a university or recognized standing; previous child welfare experience an asset; proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team; strong assessment skills in order to assess clients needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress; proven crisis intervention skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong time management skills; computer literate; a valid driver's license and use of a person vehicle.

The worker will investigate complaints of children alleged to be in need of protection as defined by the Child and Family Services Act by assessing family and individual functioning; assuming complete case management responsibility at the intake level; providing therapeutic intervention, including short-term treatment to clients; providing protection services to clients including apprehending children and bringing all related matters to Provincial Court (Family Division).

Qualifications: BSW from a university of recognized standing; previous child welfare experience is an asset; proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team; strong assessment skills in order to assess clients needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress; proven crisis intervention skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong time management skills; computer literate; a valid driver's license and use of a person vehicle.
