Job Classifications

PROTECTION

Adoption Worker
This position provides a variety of services related to the orientation and approval process for those individuals interested in adopting a child. The Adoption Worker provides a variety of support services to individuals who have had past experience with adoption either directly or indirectly and provides a variety of services related to the placement of a child with an adoptive family.

After Hours Worker
This position provides after hours, weekends, and statutory holidays coverage for all protection services of the Agency. It is an emergency service designed to meet urgent service needs and crises that require immediate attention. The After Hours Worker will respond to all allegations of children being in need of protection and to issues related to children in care.

Children’s Services Worker
This position provides services for children/youth that are in care of the Agency. The Children’s Services Worker may offer in home support to alternate caregivers including foster families with in home education and support in the areas of behavior management.

The Children’s Services Worker will work in conjunction with the Family Services Worker on open protection files for services that will be offered to expedite the return of a child home. In working with alternate caregivers where the child is identified as being emotionally and behaviorally troubled, the support will be offered to meet the needs of the child and maintain the stability of the placement.

Family Services Worker
This position develops ongoing professional contacts between Agency and clients, investigates whether children are in need of protection and takes emergency action where indicated to protect children. The Family Services Worker carries out the appropriate child care role prior to transfer of the file to the Children’s Services Worker.

The Family Services Worker provides service to families where protection concerns indicate need for such and includes education and development of parenting skills and household management in addition to providing ongoing service to prevent future breakdown of family structure.

Intake Worker - Protection
This position handles the initial intake responsibilities for the Agency. This will involve the initial documentation and assessment of all new referrals past the initial intake screening as well as case management responsibilities for designated short-term cases.

Kinship Services Worker
This position provides a variety of services related to the support of Kinship Services (out of care) parents in their role as well as services related to the orientation and approval process for those individuals interested in providing Kinship Services (out of care) for a child. The Kinship Services Worker provides services related to the selection and placement of a child in a Kinship Service (out of care) home upon the request of another social worker.

Protection Support Worker
This position provides assistance to families/youth in crisis on an intense and regular basis in order to prevent family/placement breakdown and to maintain children/youth in their own homes/placements. The Protection Support Worker provides short-term support to children in care and/or parents immediately following the child’s admission to care or to expedite their return to the home if removal has been necessary.

Resource Worker
This position provides a variety of services related to the support of foster parents in their role as well as services related to the orientation and approval process for those individuals interested in providing foster care for a child. The Resource Worker provides services related to the selection and placement of a child in a foster care home upon the request of another social worker.

Screener
This position acts as the first point of professional contact between the Agency and potential clients to determine the service stream internally or externally. The Screener assess whether referrals may require more extensive investigation to determine whether a child is in need of protection, highlights case dynamics and treatment needs and offers service recommendations, as appropriate. The Screener is also responsible for referring cases for further service to child protection, children’s mental health or child development where applicable.

Supervised Access Worker
This position works in CKCS locations throughout Chatham-Kent and provides primary prevention services to parents and children. The Supervised Access Worker maintains a safe environment for children in care so that they can continue to have access to their family. The Supervised Access Worker will supervise family access visits that have been court ordered, have a moderate to high risk of harm to the child(ren) or person supervising the visit, or moderate to high risk of flight by the parent with the child. The Supervised Access Worker will be expected to conclude the visit during inappropriate interactions and at other times monitor the visit as directed by the Child Welfare staff.

Volunteer Coordinator
This position provides a variety of services related to the recruitment, approval, and matching process for those individuals interested in becoming volunteers for a child and family. The Volunteer Coordinator coordinates the overall volunteer function so as to enhance service provision and provide the community members with the opportunity to apply their skills and interest in assisting their community.

Volunteer Drive Coordinator
This position matches qualified Volunteer Drivers to assist with the transportation of children/families associated with the Agency’s Child Protection Department. The Volunteer Drive Coordinator coordinates the volunteer drive function so as to enhance service provision and provide the community members with the opportunity to apply their skills and interest in assisting their community.

MENTAL HEALTH & DEVELOPMENT

Child & Family Consultant
This position is to provide developmental or mental health intervention services to children and their families who are experiencing developmental or mental health difficulties. This function is carried out in partnership with community treatment, childcare, health, recreational, educational and social services programs.

Child & Family Consultant - Trainer
This position is to provide training and guidance to community pre-school educators to assist them in guiding children’s challenging behavior and to plan and conduct training sessions for the Agency and community in various aspects of child development/parenting. The Child & Family Consultant – Trainer serves as Agency trainer for Crisis Prevention Intervention and is able to provide intervention services to children and families who are experiencing developmental and mental health difficulties.

Caseworker
This position provides direct clinical counseling services to children/youth (up to the age of 18) and their families who require intervention services beyond the crisis period or as identified at the intake assessment level.

Developmental Support Worker
This position provides direct one on one assistance and/or care as required to a child (aged 0 to 6) and/or his/her family in a licensed childcare setting and other assigned locations as required to enhance the child’s functioning in daily living.

Developmental Support Worker - Autism
This position provides direct one-on-one assistance and/or care as required to a child and/or his/her family in a classroom setting to enhance the child’s functioning in daily living.

Hope Housing Worker
This position provides in-home and community based programs which enable participating residents of Chatham Hope Non-Profit Housing to acquire information, service access, life skills and support in order to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. The Hope Housing Worker offers assistance to families in areas such as daily living skills, budgeting, child management, problem solving, decision-making, career planning, nutrition, family life and advice on how to be an effective tenant.

Mental Health In-Home Support Worker
This position provides support to children/youth and their families who are in crisis. Eligibility will be defined as described in the “Symptomatology Warranting STAT Service” document. This service will be provided in the family home. The service will be provided under the auspices of a Short-Term Assessment and Treatment” (STAT) file and will follow the treatment plan established by the STAT Worker or Caseworker.

Mental Health Intake Worker
This position acts as a point of contact between the Central Intake Screener and potential mental health/development clients/families to obtain further data to determine eligibility for service, immediate risk of abuse/neglect and/or danger to self or others, involving child protection and crisis services as necessary. The Mental Health Intake Worker assesses the client/families to determine service needs, initial formulation of plan of service and recommendation of case disposition.

OEYC Data Analysis Coordinator
The Data Analysis Coordinator (DAC) builds partnerships with the early years organizations and school boards, and provides specialized services in the area of research and outcomes measurement.

The DAC is entrusted with sensitive data sets for the purpose of conducting analyses and reporting on findings and lends their expertise in evaluation and outcomes measurement to assist in monitoring outcomes at the local, regional and provincial levels.

The DAC works directly with MCYS, research groups, school boards, staff, families and children on various outcomes measurement and evaluation initiatives.

OEYC Early Literacy Consultant
This position works primarily with groups and organizations in the community to monitor, support and promote literacy among children from birth to age six and their parents/caregivers.

OEYC Practitioner
This position works in the Early Years Centre’s within Chatham-Kent and provides assistance to families, caregivers and communities in their efforts to raise children.

OEYC Resource Coordinator
This position provides a variety of services related to the OEYC including recruitment and orientation of individuals interested in becoming volunteers for OEYC. The OEYC Resource Coordinator coordinates the overall OEYC volunteer function so as to provide support, information and training to enhance the Early Years Programs and services. The OEYC Resource Coordinator is responsible for delivering other resource services for professionals, families and children including the Child Care Information Registry, Resource and Toy Lending, Room to Grow and Caregiver Education and Support Night.

Power Of Youth (POY)Prevention Worker
This position provides programs in schools and after schools, which promote healthy attitudes towards self and others and the community in which students live. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of the pupils and needs are identified by the classroom teacher.

Psychologist
This position provides psychological assessment and consultation services to clients, families and service providers within the Agency regarding all psychological aspects of client assessment and intervention. The Psychologist will also provide clinical consultation to other service providers.

Psychometrist
Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the Psychometrist provides direct assessment services. Consultation may also be provided to clients/families and other service providers regarding individual psychometric assessments. The Psychometrist provides formal and informal assessments for clients of the agency and supports the psychologist in the preparation of psychological assessment reports.

Service Coordinator
This position is responsible for seeing that the Family and Community Service Plan is implemented in a positive and health enhancing manner for the child and family through the coordination of services within the municipality and, if applicable, outside the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

Crisis Counselor – STAT
This position provides immediate stabilization services to client/family members who are at risk of harm to self or others, or who have experienced a traumatic event.

GROUP HOME

Parent Model Group Home Support Worker
This position will provide support to children/youth living in a parent model group home. Along with the group home parents, the Parent Model Group Home Support Worker will provide care, supervision, and guidance to the children/youth placed in the home. The children/youth in the parent model group home generally have behaviours that are difficult to manage and the parent model group home requires additional support to handle these behaviours. Parent Model Group Home and its premises are smoke free environments.

Residential Group Home Shift Lead
This position provides direct care to adolescents in the Agency’s Residential Group Home while actively coordinating all shift activities. The Residential Group Home Shift Lead will be responsible for the designation of shift responsibilities, ensuring program implementation and task/report completion in conjunction with Ministry expectations. The Residential Group Home and its premises are smoke free environments.

Residential Group Home Worker
This position will have responsibilities as a youth worker in the Agency’s Residential Group Home Program. The Residential Group Home Worker, along with other staff in the home, provides care, supervision, programming and guidance to adolescents referred to the home for short-term or long-term placement. Through the efficient management of the home in an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance, the incumbent provides structure and security geared to promoting positive growth and development in the residents. The Residential Group Home and its premises are smoke free environments.

Treatment Foster Care Support Worker
This position will provide support to children/youth living in a treatment foster care home. Along with the foster parents, the Treatment Foster Care Support Worker will provide care, supervision, and guidance to the children/youth placed in the home. The children/youth in the treatment foster care home generally have behaviours that are difficult to manage and the treatment foster care home requires additional support to handle these behaviours.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

Court Secretary
This position is to provide secretarial, clerical and administrative services to the legal representative and staff of the child welfare section of the Agency. This is accomplished in accordance with the Chatham-Kent Children’s Services policies and procedures, Ministry standards and relevant legislation.

The Court Secretary will have access to confidential information required for the normal performance of his/her duties.

Information Clerk (Data & Statistics)
This position carries out a variety of accounting, statistical, record keeping and clerical duties as well as related assignments for the child welfare portion of the organization.

Information Clerk (Mental Health & Development Records)
This position provides secretarial, clerical and certain administrative support for the Mental Health and Development Department. The Information Clerk (MH & Developmental Records) Clerk carries out a variety of secretarial and administrative duties and data entry so as to support all CKCS locations and all its frontline functions. This is achieved in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, Ministry standards and relevant legislation.

Information Clerk (Protection Records)
This position provides a variety of record keeping, clerical and related assignments. The Information Clerk (Protection Records) advises and assists Agency staff directly in matters pertaining to his/her duties with regards to client records and their involvement.

Information Clerk (Protection Records) will have access to Confidential Information required in the normal performance of his/her duties.

Receptionist
This position provides reception and other clerical and administrative services support for the overall organization of the Agency. The Receptionist will have access to confidential information required for the normal performance of his/her duties.

Team Secretary – Mental Health
This position provides secretarial, clerical and certain administrative support for the Mental Health and Development Teams of the Agency. The Team Secretary – Mental Health carries out a variety of secretarial, clerical and administrative duties so as to support all locations and all its frontline functions. This is achieved in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, Ministry standards and relevant legislation.

Team Secretary – Protection
This position provides secretarial, clerical and certain administrative support for the Child Protection Teams of the Agency. The Team Secretary - Protection carries out a variety of secretarial, clerical and administrative duties so as to support all protection functions. This is achieved in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, Ministry standards and relevant legislation.

Team Secretary – Supervised Access
This position provides secretarial, clerical and certain administrative support for the Supervised Access and Protection Support teams. The Team Secretary – Supervised Access carries out a variety of secretarial, clerical and administrative duties so as to support all frontline functions. This is achieved in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, Ministry standards and relevant legislation. In addition this position assumes full responsibility for the scheduling of all access visits, all changes to visits, assists with scheduling of program times and ensuring the smooth flow of paperwork.
